About me and the BUSINESS of ART

I will be celebrating my 25th year in business as an artist in 2021. It hasn't been easy. The path hasn't always been decisive and clear. The path definitely not straight and at times overlapped in multiple circles. However, the rewards of creating an artful business revolving around my own creativity has been unbelievably fulfilling to say the least. I have worn many hats and to this day find many more appearing almost overnight. I welcome these because they present growth, opportunity and the challenge of creating a new level of my business.

My artistic path looks like this - art school (architectural rendering), a 10 year job in advertising as a graphic designer and typesetter. I then entered the decorative painting industry and started exhibiting my own designs which lead to tradeshows, wholesale accounts, teaching and travel teaching around the US. With this came the opportunity to do books and articles as both a designer and regular columnist for many magazines. I have explored many mediums - graphite, drawing, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencil, mixed media as well as business, style and creativity courses. As I saw the industry shifting, I went to online teaching and am now able to reach students world wide. This opportunity allowed me to create multi-teacher programs such as Art Play Date, Colored Pencil Play Date, and Muse Merriment the 9 Muses.

As you can see, the path was ever changing but offered so many possibilities in which to participate in and for that I am so very thankful. Stay tuned, the journey is beginning again...

My favorite quote is by Henry Miller
"The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself."
